The ongoing family feud in the Samajwadi Party shows signs of worsening. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has reportedly bypassed senior leaders in the party, including his uncle Shivpal Yadav, and submitted his own list of 403 probable candidates for the upcoming elections.

Akhilesh is believed to have met his father and party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and pitched the 403 names as the winnable candidates in the 2017 elections – a move ‘netaji’ was reportedly not pleased with.

The party, however, has not commented on these reports to confirm them. Akhilesh’s uncle and nemesis, Shivpal warned that any indiscipline, by any member in the party, will not be tolerated.

By submitting his own list, Akhilesh undermines the list of 175 candidates submitted by his uncle, who is also the party’s state president.

For a while, Akhilesh has been insisting on his role in ticket distribution and was reportedly displeased with his uncle keeping him out of the loop.

In addition, much to Akhilesh’s resentment, Mulayam recently appointed controversial state Cabinet Minister Gayatri Prajapati – who had been sacked by the CM in September after complaints of corruption – as the party’s national secretary.
