1. BJP and Congress Battle It out With Their Chhattisgarh Manifestos
The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress battled it out with their manifestos on Saturday, 10 November two days before the first half of the Chhattisgarh state Assembly polls.
The BJP President Amit Shah claimed that the Raman Singh government has been successful in tackling Naxalism in the state. The Congress party talked about employment, loan waivers and 50 percent reduction of electricity bill.
2. Congress Vows to Ban RSS ‘Shakhas’ From Entering Govt Buildings in MP
The Congress also released its manifesto for Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections which is set to take place on 28 November.
The manifesto made promises of reducing electricity bills of farmer by 50 percent and generating employment. But two most important points to note is that the party vowed to disband Vyapam or the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board which has been at the centre of corruption cases and bribery, and put a ban on RSS ‘shakhas’ from entering government buildings in Madhya Pradesh if it comes to power.
3. Delhi’s Air Quality Remains Severe After Diwali
Meanwhile, Delhi air quality remained 'poor' on Saturday, 10 November, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) data recording major pollutant PM 2.5 at 407 (severe) and PM 10 at 277 (moderate) in the Lodhi Roads area, as reported by ANI.
Checking on the borders of the national capital continued for the second day at every point as the entry of heavy and medium goods vehicles was banned by the government from 11:00 pm on 9 November to 11:00 pm of 11 November.
4. Mining Baron Janardhan Reddy Arrested in Ponzi Scam
The Central Crime Branch Police on Sunday, 11 November arrested mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy on charges of money laundering and bribery after grilling him for two days in connection with the Ambident Group scam.
In case you have a fuzzy memory of Janardhana Reddy, he is the same guy who is rumoured to have thrown a 500 crore worth wedding for his daughter right after demonetisation.
5. Wildfire in Northern Californian City Claims 25 Lives
And finally, a wildfire in the Northern Californian city of Paradise claimed 25 lives so far. The entire area was ordered to be evacuated however, there are still 110 outstanding reports of missing people.
Fire officials say 6,713 structures have been destroyed in the Northern California wildfire that has grown to 140 square miles.
