In ‘OffScreen’, we recount stories from the world of movies and web series, featuring people who toil behind the scenes, people who basically work off-screen to create magic on screen. This time it’s slightly different, as we’re talking to two actors - not about their work on screen but rather about their life off screen. What are the challenges they face on a day-to-day basis? What do they do when an audition gets botched up?
Priyanshu and Chandrachoor get candid about the life of ‘struggling actors’ and how they both love to audition. “Auditions are a great practice. Even though sometimes you hear the strangest things like ‘you’re too tall, you’re too good looking/not good looking’, but then after a point you just don’t take things seriously,” the duo said.
They also spoke about the impact of nepotism on careers, saying that it doesn’t really affect them because eventually talent and professionalism triumph. They attribute this to the structure that has developed in the casting system of films. Priyanshu said, “Now casting is more streamlined, there is a proper brief.”
