On Friday the 13th, US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump met Britain’s longest-serving monarch at Windsor Castle as part of a four-day tour.
Setting aside his history of uncomfortable handshakes with world leaders, the US President added another faux-pas to his list by failing to bow when he met the 92-year-old monarch during his trip to the United Kingdom, The Indian Express reported.
As per the royal protocol, one of the foremost rules while meeting the monarch is that men bow and women do a small curtsy.
But Trump was guilty of breaking the protocol not once but twice when he kept the Queen waiting on the dais in the Quadrangle during the ceremonial welcome. He also walked in front of the Sovereign, which is a big no-no for everyone, even the Queen’s own family members.
The meet raised eyebrows for Trump’s brash approach, and Twitterati were astonished at his lack of humility around the Queen.
Many compared this meet with the Queen’s previous engagements with former US presidents.
