Donald Trump is at it again. The American President on 24 November took to Twitter to say that he was told by TIME magazine that he will ‘probably’ be their person of the year, and that the offer wasn’t good enough for him. According to Trump, he would have to agree to an interview and photoshoot with TIME, but he gave it a pass.
Trump was TIME’s ‘Person of the year 2016’ after he was elected the President of the United States.
A TIME spokeswoman told CNN that Trump was incorrect about the selection procedure of the magazine’s ‘Person of the Year’. TIME also tweeted about the same.
TIME’s chief content officer, Alan Murray, also refuted Trump’s claims, saying ‘not a speck of truth here’.
According to Independent, the selection of TIME’s Person of the Year is a secretive process and only a handful of employees know who the winner is.
Trump’s obsession with being on the cover of TIME magazine is well known, who reportedly had many fake covers of him on the magazine across his golf clubs. TIME had also requested for the fake covers to be removed last year.
Trump’s fixation of being named ‘Person of the Year’ is also well documented in his Twitter feed.
