Duterte Orders Soldiers to Shoot Female Communist Rebels in Vagina
Duterte said that women would be “useless” without their vaginas, drawing laughter from the audience.
Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, who is well known for his controversial policies and statements, recently ordered soldiers to shoot female communist rebels in the vagina, The Guardian reported.
In a speech to former communist soldiers, in Philippines’ Malacañang Deuterte, Duterte said,
There’s a new order coming from the mayor, ‘We will not kill you. We will just shoot you in the vagina.’
He reportedly then said that women would be “useless” without their vaginas. The remarks were followed by laughter from the audience.
Duterte used the word “bisong”, meaning vagina, repeatedly throughout the speech. Later, a censored version of his speech was put out, replacing the “bison” with a dash, The Guardian report said.
Duterte’s sexually offensive comments have known no bounds since his campaign days.
In 2016, speaking on the 1989 prison riot in Davao where a hostage was raped and killed by inmates, he had laughed and said:
They raped all of the women... There was this Australian lay minister... when they took them out... I saw her face and I thought, ‘Son of a bitch. What a pity... they raped her, they all lined up. I was mad she was raped, but she was so beautiful. I thought, the mayor should have been first.
The Guardian quoted Carlos H Conde, the Philippines researcher for Human Rights Watch as saying, “It is just the latest in a series of misogynist, derogatory and demeaning statements he has made about women.”
The firebrand leader has gained notoriety since his war on drugs, in which at least 4,000 people – mostly from urban poor families – have been killed in what the police called self-defence from armed suspects resisting arrest.
Duterte had also directed police that they can kill “idiots” who violently resist arrest.
