The US Vice President, Joe Biden, is reportedly set to enter the 2016 presidential race.
Although no official statement has been released yet, the White House has indicated that an announcement on the decision may be coming soon.
Congressman Brendan Boyle tweeted that sources close to Biden have confirmed the Vice President’s decision to run.
If Biden decides to run for the presidency, he will compete against Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders in the Democratic presidential primary.
A CNN poll puts Clinton ahead with a 45 per cent chance of winning the Democratic nomination, followed by Sanders at 29 per cent and Biden at 18 per cent. The poll highlights that even though Biden’s candidacy is hypothetical at this point, he still has some support. But this could well diminish in the coming weeks.
As the presidential race heats up, Biden will need to announce his final decision soon, if he hopes to win enough support in the upcoming state primaries.
