Turkey to Reveal Khashoggi Evidence When Saudi Prosecutor Arrives

Without elaborating, Erdogan has said Turkey has other “information and evidence” about the killing of Khashoggi.

The son of slain Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi arrived in the US on Friday, 26 October, following Saudi Arabia’s decision to lift the travel ban on the former. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the Saudi prosecutor will visit Istanbul on Sunday, 28 October, for talks with Turkish authorities as part of the probe into the journalist’s murder.

According to AFP, Erdogan said, “They (the Saudis) are sending the chief prosecutor on Sunday to Turkey." The Saudi prosecutor have said on Thursday, 25 October, that Khashoggi’s murder was premeditated.

The Turkish premier has also snapped at the Saudi officials on Friday, 26 October, and asked them to reveal the location of Khashoggi’s body, who was killed in the Istanbul consulate. He also said that Ankara had more evidence on the killing that shook the world.

Without elaborating, Erdogan has said that Turkey has other "information and evidence" about the killing that it will eventually reveal, as reported by AP. The killing occurred after the journalist entered the consulate on 2 October.

Saudi Royals Not Involved: Kremlin

While a worldwide outrage has erupted against the Saudi royals after the killing of the Washington Post columnist who was a critic of the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Russia believes that the royals were not involved in the murder.

The Kremlin said that Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the matter with Saudi King Salman and he believes that the Saudi royal was not involved in the killing.

Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the official statements by the crown prince and the king are out there and “no one should have any grounds not to believe them”, as reported by AFP.

The Russian premier and Saudi king talked about “the situation around the case of Khashoggi”, reports AFP.

Salah Khashoggi Arrives in the US

On Thursday, 25 October, Salah Khashoggi, son of Jamal Khashoggi, left Saudi Arabia along with his family after the kingdom lifted a travel ban, and travelled to the US. The US instantly responded and said that it welcomes the decision.

State Department Spokesperson Robert Palladino had said on Thursday, 25 October, that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has “made it clear” to Saudi leaders that the US wants him to leave the kingdom freely.

Khashoggi was in a self-imposed exile in the US for almost a year before he was murdered. His pieces were critical of Prince Mohammed’s crackdown on dissent, reports AP.

Khashoggi's Fiancee Demands Punishment

The Turkish fiancee of journalist Jamal Khashoggi Hatice Cengiz, meanwhile, called for all those responsible for his murder to be brought to justice.

“I demand that all those involved in this savagery from the highest to the lowest levels are punished and brought to justice.”
