Anjali Ramkissoon, the Florida doctor captured on video for lashing out at and assaulting an Uber driver in downtown Miami has apologised for her actions, ABC News reported. She says she is ashamed of her actions and that her family has been targeted since the video’s release.

Speaking on Good Morning America, Ramkissoon said that the person in the video is not the person she is, and that she’s ashamed. “I can’t watch the entire video,” she said.

She says that there is no excuse for her actions and that she’s very sorry for all the people she’s hurt.

Ramkisson says her father was admitted to the hospital the day of the incident, and just minutes before it happened, she and her boyfriend had ended their two-year-old relationship.

She said that she had been drinking and had booked an Uber to go home. Ramkissoon also said that after the video went online, she and her family have faced cyberbullying.

My family was targeted. Their address was leaked. I’ve received messages telling me that I should kill myself, and that I should have been raped that night.

The Uber driver declined to press charges against Ramkissoon, for which she says she is “grateful.” Uber told ABC News they’ve suspended Ramkissoon’s account while the incident is being investigated.

A video recording of the incident went viral on the internet.

In the video, Ramkissoon is seen hitting the driver and then throwing papers and other objects out of the car.
