Facebook Employees Wanted to Remove Trump’s ‘Hate Speech’ Posts

Republican presidential nominee has been vocal with his hate for various communities on social media and the employees of Facebook have debated whether he should be removed from the platform, for violating the rules of hate speech, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

Mark Zuckerberg, in December, ruled that it would be inappropriate to censor the candidate.

Employees felt very strongly on the issue and complained to Zuckerberg and other managers that the site was bending its rules for Trump. Some of them even threatened to quit.

Facebook has never contacted us about employee complaints and has never removed a post. We are not concerned about the liberal Clinton elites who are so intolerant of conservative ideas that they would seek to censor the Trump campaign’s enormously successful Facebook engagement.

Senior members of Facebook’s policy team divulged more details on its policy on Friday.

In the weeks ahead, we’re going to begin allowing more items that people find newsworthy, significant, or important to the public interest — even if they might otherwise violate our standards.

It was also an important policy update as Facebook face scrutiny for censoring a photo of the “napalm girl” back in September.

This week, controversy bubbled as a top executive in Facebook Peter Thiel had recently disclosed he would be donating $1.25 million to the Trump campaign. Zuckerberg had asked employees to be tolerant toward Thiel’s activities as he saw it as a way to cultivate diversity.
