A video of Donald Trump wooing the Indian diaspora with a spin-off of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s famous slogan “Ab Ki Baar Modi Sarkar” went viral recently.

While the video closes with an audio message supposedly in Trump’s voice saying he “approved” the video, whether it was really him remains a mystery.

What also remained a mystery to most Hindi-speaking Indians in America is Trump’s attempt to say “Ab Ki Baar Trump Sarkar”.

Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel – known to frequently take digs at the Republican candidate – got Hindi-speaking people to listen to Trump’s appeal. But the only reaction it evoked from Indians was “Umm ... what? That’s not even Hindi ...”
