Punters are placing all manner of wacky bets on Britain’s royal baby, chancing their cash on everything from the name of the new prince or princess to who gets their congratulatory tweets in first. Bizarre bets are being placed on the name, hair colour, sex and even the weight of the baby.
With the Duchess of Cambridge apparently almost a week past her due date, punters are scrambling to gamble on when the newest member of the Royal Family will put in an appearance.
Here are a Few of the Betting Odds:
– A baby girl is still the favourite in the gender betting, with Coral odds now as short as 1-2, while a boy can be backed at 13-8.
– Alice has been the most popular name with punters at 11-8, ahead of Charlotte and Elizabeth at 4-1 and 6-1, respectively.
– A birth date of May 2 can be backed at 4-1, while May 3 odds are on at 6-1.
– Odds of 6-4 are being offered for blonde and brown hair with odds of 5-1 for black and red.
– Bets are also up for grabs on the weight of the newborn with less than 6 pounds having odds of 10-1 and 6 pounds to 15 ounce at 6-1.
– Bets are also being placed on the day of the birth and on bizarre things like who the first politician will be to congratulate the royal family – Prime Minister David Cameron or Labour leader Ed Miliband.
– The latest odds are 8-1 on the Royal Family arriving on polling day – May 7.
