Despite the numerous terrorist attacks in the last year, a US report said that the number of deaths caused by terrorism fell by 14 percent since 2014.
A shocking average of 981 terrorists attack happened per month in 2015 which killed nearly 30,000 people in total, according to figures revealed by the US State Department.
This represents 13 percent fewer attacks and 14 percent fewer deaths than in 2014.
ISIS Still a Major Threat
However, they maintained that the ISIS still remains a major threat, considering their strongholds in the Arab World and the attacks that they executed in parts of the world like France, Turkey and Lebanon.
The figures record huge increases in indiscriminate political violence in Turkey, Bangladesh, Egypt, Syria and the Philippines.
Global Terrorism Rapidly Evolving
The figures were released by National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) on Friday .
It warned that “the global terrorist threat continued to evolve rapidly in 2015, becoming increasingly decentralised and diffuse.”
The report also placed some of the blame on nation states, warning that extremists exploit frustrations “where avenues for free and peaceful expression of opinion were blocked.”
The report emphasised that the single greatest threat remains the ISIS and its growing legions of affiliates and supporters in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.
The group has begun to lose ground to US-backed forces in its self-declared “caliphate” in Syria and Iraq, and it is struggling find funds.
But ISIS has expanded its territory in Libya and Egypt, added the report.
