As the world wakes up to a new presidency, there are millions of parents out there who are in fear for their children and how they will explain the election to them.

American screenwriter and playwright Aaron Sorkin is one such parent who wrote a letter to his daughters in Vanity Fair, saying it was truly horrible to see the world change in a way he could not protect them from.

Sorkin is also the writer of the TV show The Newsroom and had this scene in which he highlighted why it is not the greatest nation in the world.

Our family is fairly insulated from the effects of a Trump presidency so we fight for the families that aren’t. We fight for a woman to keep her right to choose. We fight for the First Amendment and we fight mostly for equality – not for a guarantee of equal outcomes but for equal opportunities. We stand up.
