John Nash, whose life was the subject of the film A Beautiful Mind was killed in a car crash along with his wife.

The couple were in a taxi when the driver lost control, crashed into a guard rail and hit another car on Saturday afternoon, said police.

Nash received his Ph.D. from Princeton in 1950 and spent much of his career there and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

He began experiencing what he described as “mental disturbances” in 1959 which was enacted by Russell Crowe in the 2001 film A Beautiful Mind. The movie had won four Oscars including Best Picture that year.

Nash won the Nobel Prize for Economics in 1994 and was a senior research mathematician at Princeton University.
