1. Did Mamata Banerjee Tell the People of West Bengal to Remain Poor? No!

Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) West Bengal wing shared a video of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle, which showed her speaking at a public event.

In the clip, Banerjee was heard saying, "We want you to remain poor, meaning you eat whatever you have at home and survive."

But a longer version of the viral clip showed Banerjee asking her party workers and leaders to survive with what they have at home and not to be greedy in order to better serve the people of West Bengal.

2. Did JP Nadda ‘Insult’ Former VP Jagdeep Dhankar in Parliament in This Clip? No!

A video of Union Minister JP Nadda addressing the Rajya Sabha during the ongoing monsoon session went viral on the internet with a claim that it showed him insulting the former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar.

The same video has been shared by several handles linked to the Congress party, such as the Facebook accounts of the Gujarat Pradesh Youth Congress, the Uttarakhand Youth Congress, and Indian Youth Congress.

However, we found that the video was clipped and lacked proper context.

A longer version showed Nadda directing his statements towards the Opposition members, who were interrupting him while he was addressing the Upper House.

3. Over 17 Lakh Women Went Missing Under PM Narendra Modi’s Rule? A Fact-Check

A post was being circulated on social media platforms with a claim that around 17.49 lakh women have gone missing in the past 11 years under Prime Minister  Narendra Modi's rule.

Team WebQoof found that as per the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data available from 2016 to 2022, the total number of missing females was around 16.15 lakh.

  • However, the majority of these females were traced.

4. Manipulated Video of Army Chief Viral as India Admitting Loss of S-400 System

A video that purportedly showed Deputy Chief of Army Staff (DCAS) Lieutenant General Rahul R Singh “confessing” to India losing the S-400 air defence systems went viral on the internet.

But the claim was fake as the viral video had been manipulated using the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.

5. Fake Statements Attributed to Astronomer CEO Andy Byron Go Viral

Two statements purportedly issued by former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron was shared on social media platforms with users claiming that they were released after Byron's video from Coldplay's concert went viral.

We did not find any available evidence to support that such statements were issued by Byron. Moreover, the official X handle of Astronomer that Byron had not released a statement.
