Viral Video of ‘Expired’ Eggs Hatching is from Georgia, Not Oman

A viral video with the following message has been doing the rounds on social media:

"Ministry of Oman caught expired eggs from various super markets and dumped them in desert . Now see what happened😂😂😂😂"

The message with the video claims the incident happened in Oman, when in reality it happened in Georgia.

The Quint found several Youtube videos in Malayalam, most of which were dated 13 July 2018, claiming that the eggs were “seized by the Ministry of Oman”.

However, a reverse Google image search threw up the same video with Arabic text.

The message along with the video claims the incident happened in Oman, when in reality it happened in Georgia.  

These videos are dated between 14 and 16 June 2018. When translated, the description read: ‘Rotten eggs were thrown in a garbage dump near the town of Marneuli in the state of Georgia, but because of the high heat they broke out.

A Daily Mail article from 11 June 2018 states that the incident occurred at a disposal site in Marneuli, Georgia.

According to the article, the eggs were thrown out because they were "rotten". However, the heat in the region caused the eggs to hatch, resulting in several tiny chicks running around frantically.

The Daily Mail reports that a person named Saihd Bayramov shared the original video. According to his post, the eggs were thrown out near the ‘Commodity Market’ in Marneuli.
