CLAIM

A video of a new born baby born with just one eye is in circulation with a claim that the infant is ‘dajjal’, an anti-messianic figure comparable to antichrist in Christianity.

As per Islamic theology, dajjal is an evil being who will seek to impersonate the true messiah. The text accompanying the video reads, “It is written in the holy Quran that Dajjal will be born in Israel with one eye. That child has been born in Israel.. May Allah bless us.(कुरान में अल्लाह पाक ने फ़रमाया है कि इज़राइल में दज्जाल पैदा होगा जिसकी एक आँख होगी। अब इज़राइल में ये बच्चा पैदा हो गया है……अल्लाह हम सब की हिफाज़त फरमाये।सच्ची और पक्की तौबा नसीब फरमाये।आमीन).

The aforementioned video is being widely shared on Facebook.

WHAT’S THE TRUTH?

On breaking down the video into several key frames using Invid Google Chrome extension, we found out that the video is as old as 2014. We came across a Facebook page by the name ‘One Eyed Dajjal Baby Born in Israel’ which had uploaded and shared the picture in 2014.

Although we couldn’t ascertain the exact location of the video, the claim of being recent is definitely not true.

Secondly, the baby suffers from a rare birth defect called ‘cyclops’ which is a form of holoprosencephaly due to which the forebrain fails to divide the orbits of the eye into two cavities.

Mostly babies born with this rare condition don’t survive for a long time.
