What else did the clip show?: She could be further heard saying that being called wife of the vice-president brings her shame. The video purportedly showed her mentioning that her clothing and her statements depend on her husband's mood.
The above post had gained over 11 thousand likes on the platform.
Is this claim true?: No, the claim is false. The viral video has been edited using the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.
What led us to the truth?: At first, we noticed that the way her lips moved did not match the words coming out of Vance's mouth.
We then conducted a keyword search on YouTube with the words "usha vance speech" and found a video uploaded on the official YouTube channel of ABC News.
It showed the Second Lady wearing the same attire as seen in the beginning of the viral clip.
The video was shared on 18 July 2024 and was titled, "Usha Vance touts husband JD Vance before his big speech at RNC."
We did not find any statement that talked about the Second Lady regretting marrying JD Vance.
What did detection tool show?: Team WebQoof passed the viral clip through an AI detection tool named 'Hive Moderation' to verify its authenticity.
The tool showed over 99 percent probability of the clip being an AI-generated one.
