An image of people gathered near a crashed plane is being shared on the internet with a claim that at least three Indian jets crashed in Jammu and Kashmir following the recent Operation Sindoor.
Who shared it?: An X (formerly Twitter) premium user named 'China Daily' shared the image with a caption that said, "At least three #Indian jets crashed Wednesday in Indian-controlled #Kashmir, a local newspaper The Hindu said quoting government sources. #Pakistan."
What are the facts?: The image dates back to February 2019 and shows people and the Indian army gathered near the wreckage of an aircraft in Jammu and Kashmir.
How did we find that out?: On conducting a reverse image search on the viral image, we found the same visual published on a stock image website named Alamy.
It was uploaded on 27 February 2019 and its caption suggested that Indian army personnel and people gathered near Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
The caption further added that a pilot and a co-pilot of Indian Air Force were killed.
Other sources: An article published in South China Morning Post (SCMP), too, carried the same visual. It was shared on 2 March 2019.
Conclusion: It is evident that the image is old and does not show a recent visual.
