CLAIM
A viral video on social media claims that a small natural river in Thailand is activated when one chants 'Om' via a large sound-horn installed near the rivulet.
The accompanying message reads:
The video shows a girl standing near a railing, overlooking the rivulet, and chanting 'Om' into the sound-horn.
The video is viral on Facebook, Twitter and even on WhatsApp.
TRUE OR FALSE?
While the video is authentic, the claims have been taken out of context. Further, according to an investigation conducted by SMHoaxSlayer, the video is not even from Thailand.
A larger version of the video was featured in a compilation of fountains that are voice-activated, indicating that this particular fountain, too, was voice-activated.
The compilation video features clips of people yelling into mics to activate fountains.
The fountains featured in the video are all from China – such as the Thousand Buddha Caves in China’s Gansu Province – and are manufactured by Himalaya Music Fountain Corporation, based in China itself, reported SMHoaxSlayer.
Taking cue from this, a deeper search led to another video of the same fountain, which claimed that the fountain was situated in Mt Cangshan in China's Shaanxi Province.
Thus, reports strongly suggest that the video is not activated by chanting just 'Om', but is actually sound-activated.
Secondly, the fountain is reportedly not situated in Thailand, but in China's Shaanxi Province.
