A video of a scuba diver struggling inside water is being circulated on social media platforms with users linking it to the recent passing of singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore.
What have users said?: Those sharing the clip have captioned it saying, "Famous Indian Singer from Assam Zubin Garg died in Singapore while Scuba Diving. Here is the last moment video (sic)."
What are the facts?: The viral video could be traced back to at least May 2025, which predates Garg's death. This makes the claim false.
What led us to the truth?: We conducted a reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral video and found similar visuals uploaded on an unverified YouTube channel named '@Titanura'.
It was posted on 19 July 2025 with a title that said, "He Couldn’t Breathe in 78 Meters Deep, and This Happened!."
This clearly showed that the viral video was old and predated the passing of the famous singer.
Other older versions: On performing another round of Google Lens search, we found another older version published on a Facebook handle named 'LADbible' on 17 June.
It carried a watermark that said "Stop.The.Sun".
Next, we searched for the username on Google and found an Instagram handle.
The same visuals were shared on 14 May with a caption that said, "Lost consciousness for the first time. Ascent from 78 meters. Safety @gkreivenas Camera @freelookaround Low speed of descent and the desire to squeeze 2 meters to reach 78 meters played a cruel joke on me..."
Conclusion: It is evident that the video is old and unrelated to Garg's death.
