CLAIM

As fake news and reports around the Pulwama attack continue to gain steam, a video claims that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan had donated Rs 45 crore to the Pakistan gas tanker tragedy victims, and had yet done nothing for the Pulwama martyrs.

The 45-second clip shows a montage of tweet screenshots claiming that while Khan had donated the money to Pakistan, he never showed any sympathy for soldiers martyred in India.

TRUE OR FALSE?

Well, this claim is false and has been debunked before. In fact, the video that is being shared as Khan donating money is from an old India TV bulletin dated 4 July 2017, busting the same claim.

The viral clip has been edited from the longer video, and circulated again to make it appear as though Khan had, in fact, donated Rs 45 crore to Pakistan over the incident. The edited portion can be accessed at 1 minute 40 seconds into the video (below).

However, the longer version of the India TV video shows that the claim is false. A source from Khan's media confirmed to the channel that no donation of this sort was made by the actor to Pakistan.

TWITTER CALLS OUT FALSE CLAIM

And even as the claim gained traction on Twitter, several fans and colleagues of the actor called out the news as fake.

Film director Hansal Mehta took to the microblogging site to bust the fake news stating that he hadn't met a "kinder and more compassionate star" than Khan.

In fact, the actor himself took to Twittter to condole the deaths of the CRPF jawans in the Pulwama attack.

Meanwhile, it s a well-known fact that Khan has often donated large sums of money in times of calamities, specifically during the 2015 Chennai floods, when his production house Red Chillies entertainment donated Rs 1 crore towards the CM relief fund. He also donated money during the Kerala floods last year, which had resulted in the loss of over Rs 80,000 crore worth of property.
