Is this claim true?: No, the claim is misleading. The viral clip could be traced back to at least January of this year and is unrelated to the recent Air India flight incident.
What led us to the truth?: We performed a reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral clip and found the same visuals uploaded on an X (formerly Twitter) handle.
The video was posted on 6 January and its caption said, "Passengers on an Air India plane in London Gatwick were told the flight was cancelled, after sitting on the plane for 7 hours."
Other sources: Team WebQoof found the same visuals posted on an Instagram handle called 'crime.ldn' on 6 January.
Its caption, too, suggested that it showed passengers on an Air India reacting to the flight cancellation announcement after sitting for seven hours.
About Air India Delhi-Chicago flight: The airline confirmed that its flight from Chicago to Delhi was forced to return after most of its toilets became clogged and unserviceable.
Air India said that the lavatories became clogged after items like rags, clothes, polythene bags were flushed down the toilets.
Conclusion: It is evident that the visuals are old and being falsely linked to the Air India flight that had to return to Chicago due to clogged toilets.
