ARMA 3 Video Game Simulation Clips Falsely Linked to Operation Sindoor

Two clips showing fighter jets being shot down by a radar are going viral online with two different claims.

One of them states that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) shot down Indian Air Force's (IAF) Rafale fighter jet near Bahawalpur, Pakistan. It further claims that Pakistan has attacked a total of 6 IAF jets following Operation Sindoor.

Another claim states that the IAF shot down a Pakistani fighter jet.

What's the truth?: These videos are not real but clips from a video game simulation, ARMA 3.

How did we find out the truth?: We performed a reverse image search on Google using some of the keyrames of the viral videos and this led us to similar videos (here, here and here) on YouTube.

  • The background seen in the videos matched with the viral clips and the manner in which the radar was aiming to attack the jet also matched with the clips.

  • The title of these videos stated that they show scenes from ARMA 3 video game.

Conclusion: Videos from ARMA 3 are going viral on social media where users are falsely linking it to Operation Sindoor.
