CLAIM

It's been a week since the Congress came into power in three states, and fake news factories have been in an overdrive since.

The latest to join this bandwagon is a post which shows outgoing Chief Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Vasundhara Raje with the new CMs Kamal Nath and Ashok Gehlot respectively and a Congress worker blackening the face of PM Modi on a poster.

The post is captioned 'This is how BJP behaves in a loss; This is how Congress behaves in a win', purportedly attempting to show the 'difference' between the two parties.

The post was first put up by the page 'Bharat Ki Baat' on 18 December, and has since been picked by the pages ‘Post Card Fans’ and ‘Our PM Narendra Modi’.

At the time of writing, the Post Card Fans’ post had received over 90 shares in just an hour's time.

TRUE OR FALSE?

The first set of photos are from the recently-held swearing-in ceremonies in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The second set of photos showing a Congress worker blackening PM Modi's face is not from after the Congress' win, but an old photo dating back to 11 October 2018.

A reverse image search of the photo led us to the BJP Maharasthra's twitter handle which had tweeted the pictures on the said date.

The handle identified the person as one Satyajeet Tambe, who is Mahrasthra Youth Congress President.

When we checked Satyajeet Tambe's Twitter timeline, we came across a video from the same date i.e. 11 October 2018. In the video, Tambe is seen criticising the government over rising petrol and diesel prices, while standing on the roof of a car near a hoarding with PM Modi on it.

Tambe, in the video, says, "Modi government is reducing the petrol and diesel prices by 3-4 rupees, it's their trick, but people are not going to fall for it. Maharashtra Youth Congress is protesting this. We want the government to do two things, bring petrol diesel under GST that will reduce the cost by 20 to 30 rupees and help the users. And we want the government to waive everything that they have imposed in the context of drought and liquor ban." (translated)

He then goes ahead to blacken the face of Modi on the hoarding. The video appears to have been shot near a petrol pump.

PHOTOS EARLIER VIRAL AS SACHIN PILOT’S

The same set of photos were earlier viral as Sachin Pilot blackening the face of PM Modi just before he was announced as deputy CM of Rajasthan.

The viral post had then claimed " वही सचिन पायलेट हे जो राजस्थान मे मुखियमत्री बनने का हे इसने मोदी जी के पोस्टर पर उनके चेहरे पर काला कर रहा है इसको इतना फलाओ कि कल तक हर न्युज चेनल पर आ जाए शर्म करो हिंदुओ शर्म करो आज हमारे मोदी जी पर कालिख पोती है इसने कल यही हमारे भगवान पर काली पहुंचेगा थोड़ी सी शर्म बची है तो ध्यान रखना आने वाले समय का 😭😭😭😭😭" (Translated: This is the same Sachin Pilot who is going to be made the CM in Rajasthan, blackening the face of PM Modi. Spread this as much as possible, so that it appears on every news channel. Shame on you Hindus, today our Modiji has been blackened, tomorrow it will be our Gods. If any shame is left, then beware of the coming times.)
