A set of images showing Reliance Foundation chairperson Nita Ambani handing over a set of keys to Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma have gone viral on social media.
The claim: Those sharing these images have claimed that they show Ambani gifting Sharma luxury Bugatti cars after team India won the 2025 Champions Trophy.
How did we find out the truth?: When we saw the images, we noticed some issues with them.
The first image had some of Ambani's fingers missing on the left hand.
Additionally, text on the car's grill and the word 'India' on Sharma's jersey showed garbled text, which is a telltale sign of an AI-generated image.
The second image, too, had similar issues with garbled text on Sharma's jersey.
The area surrounding his eyes and mouth showed green elements, and Ambani's mouth also looked odd with too many teeth.
To confirm this, we ran both images through AI-generated content detectors, such as Hive Moderation's tool and Sightengine.
Image One
For the first image, showing Ambani on the left and Sharma on the right, both tools confirmed that the image was AI-generated.
Hive Moderation's tool was 97.8 percent sure that the image was an AI-generated one.
Sightengine gave the image a 99 percent confidence score of being AI-generated.
Image Two:
The second image got a 98.1 percent score of being "likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content" from Hive Moderation.
Similarly, SightEngine was 99 percent sure that the image was made using AI.
Conclusion: A set of AI-generated images have gone viral with the false claim that they show Nita Ambani giving Rohit Sharma a Bugatti car after India wont the Champions Trophy.
