An image of a man holding the Bangladeshi flag in his hand, while he could be seen standing on the Indian national flag, is going viral on social media platforms as a real visual.
What do viral posts say?: An X (formerly Twitter) handle shared the image with a caption that said, "Who provides shelter to BanglaDeshi in Delhi? ... same CM took money from Khalistani terrorists.."
What's the truth?: The viral image has been generated using the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. We found several anomalies in the photo, commonly spotted in AI-generated images.
Anomalies in the viral image: We closely looked at the viral image and found several discrepancies in it.
The folding line in the middle of the Bangladeshi flag does not appear consistent with the rest of the lines seen in the image.
Further, the man's toes seem to be merging with each other and are half-visible.
These errors are usually spotted in AI-generated images, which indicated the possibility of the photo being inauthentic.
What did detection tools show?: On passing the viral image through two AI detection tools namely — 'Hive Moderation' and 'TrueMedia', both of them showed substantial possibility of the image being generated using the help of AI.
