A video of scuba divers exploring old structures, artifacts, and sculptures of Gods underwater is being shared on social media platforms as recent visuals from Indonesia's Bali.
What's the claim?: Those sharing the clip have captioned it saying, "*"Vishnu Temple:"* is found underwater near Bali, Indonesia. It is said to be 5,000+ Years old. Locals call this new Scuba diving spot at "Pemuteran Beach" as *"Under water Temple Garden, Bali."* Many sculptures were found under the sea water there (sic)."
What are the facts?: The visuals have been generated using the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and do not show real visuals as claimed. The video was shared by an Instagram handle that regularly posts similar AI-generated content.
How did we find that out?: We noticed that the video carried a watermark that said "@mbaiarts" at the bottom.
We searched for '@mbaiarts' on Google and came across an Instagram handle with the same username.
Team WebQoof found the same visuals were posted on the handle on 9 April with a caption that mentioned, "Beneath layers of time and tide lies a city whispered in scripture — Dwarka, the sacred realm of Shri Krishna. Now swallowed by the sea, its secrets shimmer in silence..."
The caption further carried a disclaimer that said, "All visuals are AI-generated and created solely for artistic and educational wonder. With full respect to all faiths, this is a humble tribute to our shared spiritual heritage."
About the Instagram account: The bio of the Instagram account carried a line that said "Exploring the beauty of Hindu gods through AI art".
This further made it clear that the content posted on the handle are usually created using AI tools.
One can find similar AI-generated content on the account.
We have reached out to the creator to seek more details about the clip and this report will be updated as and when a response is received.
What did detection tool show?: Team WebQoof passed the viral video through an AI detection tool called 'Hive Moderation', which showed over 99 percent probability of the clip being an AI-generated one.
Conclusion: Evidently, the video has been generated using AI tools and does not show real visuals as claimed in the viral post.
