Reliance Jio is one of the few telcos in India which are offering attractive prepaid recharge plans for its users in the country. In fact, these plans have helped the telco become the leading operator in India, with over 340 million users on its network.
But if any of you are getting messages about a free Jio recharge offer for a Reliance Jio mobile number, do not fall for it.
In fact, do not entertain any such requests and definitely don’t click on any website link, which could instead steal your personal information from the device.
What Are These Messages About?
According to reports, this fake message has been circulating in various WhatsApp groups. There are also several YouTube videos related to this scam, which claims that Jio is giving free recharge of Rs 399 for three months to its users on the network.
The links shared with the messages redirect the user to the website jio-recharges.com that is fake and asks you to fill your personal information like name and mobile number as well. This is what the form to get the free recharge looks like:
Once the user shares their details, the website then asks them to share this message with five friends or groups on WhatsApp to be able to avail this recharge offer.
However, the messages are fake.
We’re seeing many offers like these regularly pop up on the internet these days. But it’s worth noting that the official Jio website doesn’t have any information about any free recharge offer like this.
What to Do About Such Fake Offers?
There’s no better way to put this. Offers like these are fake, and people shouldn’t click on web links or speak to random people about such offers, where they ask for personal information.
Sharing your mobile number in itself is a big danger, with one time password (OTP) being used for basic shopping activities. It’s better to check with the company through its social media handle, or just ignore these ‘offers’.
