A video is being shared on social media platforms with a claim that it shows recent visuals of the Indian Army destroying homes located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
What did users say?: An X (formerly Twitter) premium user shared the clip with a caption in Hindi that said, "Indian army has started war on the border. People of Pakistan themselves are making videos and saying that many houses in POK were destroyed in firing by Indian Army."
What is the truth?: The claim is false. The video could be traced back to at least October 2019 and is not recent as claimed in the viral post.
How did we find that out?: We divided the viral video into several keyframes and ran a reverse image search on all of them.
The search directed us to the same video published on an X handle called '@Natsecjeff'.
It was shared on 24 October 2019 and its caption said, "VIDEO # 2:
Another footage from Neelum region. #LoC #AJK."
The thread, on which the video was also shared, claimed that heavy clashes had broken out between India and Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC).
The third video on the thread showed a guy recording in front of the same pink-coloured house, as seen in the viral clip.
It was posted on 24 October 2019 as well.
News reports: A report published in NDTV said that the Indian Army had launched attacks on terror camps inside PoK.
The attack resulted in three camps being destroyed and six to 10 soldiers of Pakistan army getting killed.
The report was published on 20 October 2019.
Conclusion: While we could not identify the location or context of the video, it is clear that the clip is old and does not show a recent attack.
