Amid the ongoing 2025 Asia Cup tournament, a video is being circulated on the internet to claim that Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to shake hands with his Bangladeshi counterpart Jaker Ali after the toss.

What did the viral post say?: An X (formerly Twitter) premium subscriber called 'Ihtisham Ul Haq' shared the clip with a caption that said, "So no handshake between India and Bangladesh too?."

The above post had gained over nine lakh views on the platform. Archives of similar such claims could be viewed here, here, and here.

What are the facts?: The claim is false. The two captains indeed shook hands after the conclusion of the toss. In fact, there are visuals available showing both the teams shaking hands after the match as well.

How did we find that out?: We searched with the words "india vs bangladesh toss update asia cup 2025" on Google and came across an article published on a website called 'Crictoday'.

  • The article talked about Bangladesh winning the toss and electing to bowl first against India in the Super 4 match in the 2025 Asia Cup tournament.

  • It also carried a photo that showed Yadav giving a fist-bump to Ali.

News report: A report published by IANS Live talked about Bangladesh winning the toss and Ali announcing the changes in the team.

  • He said that the skipper Litton Das had suffered an injury during a practice session and was unavailable for the match.

  • Yadav expressed his happiness in batting first and said there were no changes in the team from the previous match.

  • The photo in the report clearly showed Yadav and Ali shaking hands.

Photos of players and staff shaking hands: Team WebQoof found a visual available on Getty Images, a stock image website, that showed Yadav shaking hands with a Bangladeshi cricketer after the conclusion of the match.

  • A different photo showed the support staff and players of both the teams shaking hands at the end.

  • The photo was captured on 24 September 2025.

Conclusion: It is evident that the claim of Suryakumar Yadav snubbing Jaker Ali during the toss in an Asia Cup match is false.
