The Cyberabad police arrested four men in connection with the rape and murder of a 26-year-old veterinary doctor in Telangana on Friday, 29 November. Now, a video of a man being thrashed is being circulated online with a claim that he is one of the accused in the case.

The caption along with the video claims that the man in the video is the one who set the victim on fire.

The claim made in the video is completely false.

The video is from an incident which happened in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district in November. According to media reports, the man in the video tried to allegedly sexually assault a minor girl, but he was caught in the act by the locals and arrested. He has been identified as Veerabhadrayya.

A man conversing in Telugu in the video can be heard asking the accused, “Will you rape small children?”.

Taking a cue from here, we searched on YouTube with the keywords “Police man beating Andhra”. We found the same video played in a bulletin by Sakshi TV on 26 November.

According to this bulletin, Veerabhadrayya, from Karikiri village in Chittoor district tried to rape and murder a 10-year-old girl and was caught in the act by locals. It further added that as he tried to escape from the police, he was again caught and beaten by them.
