A video showing several deer entering a home is going viral to claim that these animals have been displaced due to razing of their natural habitat in Kancha Gachibowli forests near Hyderabad.
The Hindi text seen in the video translates to, “They too feel pain and sorrow, they too have families. In Hyderabad, bulldozers are ravaging a 400-acre forest to make way for an upcoming IT park. As a result, the animals and wildlife are being forced to leave the forest and are now appearing in people’s homes, on roads and streets, leading to human-wildlife conflicts.”
How did we find out the truth?: We divided the video into multiple keyframes and ran them on Google lens.
This led us to a Facebook post shared on 3 August 2023, which predates the destruction of the Kancha Gachibowli forests.
We also found an extended version of the video shared by another Facebook account, The Kiwi, and this was shared on 17 June 2023.
We noticed a watermark in the video reading, "Deer Whisperer Lynn Smith".
Taking a cue, we searched for Lynn Smith and found several posts on his Instagram and YouTube accounts, Deer Whisperer Lynn Smith.
We have contacted Smith for more context about this video, and we will update the story once we receive a response.
We also found a report about how Smith and his wife began feeding deer during the pandemic, and now the animals wander into their home for treats.
Conclusion: Old video from Texas showing deer entering a house is going viral to claim that this is a recent scene from Kancha Gachibowli, Hyderabad.
