A video of a huge explosion taking place on the streets is being circulated on social media platforms with users linking it to the recent Israel-Iran conflict.
What have users said?: While some users have identified the location as Iran, others claimed that the viral clip showed recent visuals in Israel's Tel Aviv.
What are the facts?: The claim is false. The video could be traced back to January of this year and reportedly shows visuals from Berlin, Germany.
How did we find that out?: On performing a Google Lens search on the keyframes of the viral clip, we found the same visuals uploaded on an Instagram handle called 'ferrygno'.
It was shared on 2 January and its caption mentioned, "Destruction and violence: the turning of the year in Schöneberg, Berlin's most progressive neighborhood in Germany..."
Other sources: Team WebQoof found the same visuals shared on a verified YouTube handle named 'BILD' on 1 January.
Its description when translated to English said, "New Year's Eve: This is where the illegal bomb explodes. A powerful explosion, shrapnel flying through the air like a bomb attack. But this isn't a war zone; this is New Year's Eve in Berlin-Schöneberg."
News reports: A report published in DW said that New Year's celebrations led to at least four people getting injured. These injuries were reportedly linked to explosions.
The report further said that emergency services were pelted by pyrotechnics.
Conclusion: It is evident that the video is old and unrelated to the recent aggressions between Israel and Iran.
