A video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah talking about terror attacks in the country is going viral on social media platforms.
What does the video show?: The 23-seconds-long video showed Shah saying, "Since Narendra Modi ji has taken oath, there have been three major attacks. First was in Uri, second was in Pulwama, and the third just happened in Pahalgam."
What's the truth?: The video has been clipped. In the longer video, Shah was heard saying that all these attacks were given befitting reply by the PM Mod-led government.
How did we find that out?: We conducted a reverse image search using the help of Google Lens and found similar visuals published in a report published by Mathrubhumi.
It said that Shah addressed people in Gujarat's Gandhinagar while he was inaugurating a primary health centre at Pethapur.
He praised India's armed forces and appreciated PM Modi in his efforts to deal with cross-border terrorism.
The report further mentioned that Shah said that since PM Modi has assumed power, he has given to befitting reply to the terrorist attacks.
This indicated towards the possibility of the video being a clipped one and not carrying the proper context.
Finding the full version: Next, we came across the full version of the Home Minister's speech shared on the official YouTube channel of BJP Gujarat.
It was published on 17 May with a title said, "UHM Shri Amit Shah dedicates/lays foundation of devt. works of GMC, GUDA & district administration."
Shah was heard talking about how terrorist attacks used to happen regularly before. He said that terrorists from Pakistan and used to go away after killing our soldiers and people.
At around the 26:08 timestamp, Shah said, "Since Narendra Modi ji has taken oath, there have been three major attacks. First was in Uri, second was in Pulwama, and third just happened in Pahalgam that Pakistan-inspired terrorists dared to do. But friends, Modi ji has given such a befitting reply that the entire world is amazed and Pakistan is scared."
