A video of a woman in black dress dancing barefoot in the rain has gone viral on social media, where users are linking it to the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.
The claim: Those sharing this video have claimed that it shows an Iranian woman dancing to send a message to 'send a message' to the Islamic regime in her country.
How do we know?: We carried out a reverse image search using screenshots of the video on Google Lens and Google Images.
Google Lens led us to an older version of the video on Instagram, where it was shared on 17 August 2023.
A closer look at the page showed us that she is a blogger living in Strasbourg, France, who also shares content on TikTok.
Using a VPN, we accessed her TikTok account (as it is banned in India) and found that she had first shared the same video on 16 July 2023.
The account led us to her Instagram page, which said that her name is Tamta Sabelashvili and she works as a personal trainer in France.
Across her accounts, her posts and interactions were in the Georgian language, indicating that she may be of Georgian origin.
Conclusion: An old video of a woman dancing in the rain is being falsely linked to the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.
