A video of a crowd attacking people carrying Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) flags is being circulated on social media platforms with users claiming it to be a recent incident from poll-bound Bihar.
What have users said?: An X (formerly Twitter) user called 'Shenaz' shared the clip with a caption that said, "The public has already started voting in Bihar even before the elections, for the BJP folks!."
How did we find that out?: On conducting a reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral video using the help of Google Lens, we found a previous fact-check report published by The Quint.
What did the report say?: It had debunked the same in February 2022, when the video was falsely shared as an incident from Uttar Pradesh.
The report carried a news article published by Times of India (TOI) that carried similar visuals as the viral clip.
It said that workers of TRS and BJP clashed during an anti-Modi protest in Telangana.
The report further said that the ruling TRS had held protest across the state following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's comments on Telangana state formation in the upper house.
Comparing visuals: We compared keyframes from the viral video to the visuals available in the TOI video report and found that both of them were indeed from the same incident.
Conclusion: It is evident that the video is old and is unrelated to Bihar.
