A video of Congress leaders dancing is being shared on the internet with a claim that it shows them celebrating after the declaration of the recently concluded 2025 Delhi assembly elections.
What did the viral post say?: An X (formerly Twitter) premium subscriber shared the clip with a caption that said, "Whenever you feel low, watch this congress video celebrating their 4.5% vote share in Delhi."
The above post had garnered over eight lakh views on the platform. ABP Live, too, shared the visuals on their official YouTube channel with a similar claim.
What are the facts?: The video could be traced back to 23 January and shows Congress leaders dancing at the launch of the party's theme song ahead of 2025 Delhi Elections. This makes the claim misleading.
How did we find that out?: We performed a reverse image search and found similar visuals uploaded on the official Facebook handle of Congress leader Santokh Singh Bhalaipur.
The images were published on 23 January and the caption said, "AICC Media and Publicity Department President Mr. Pawan Kheda ji, Bihar Congress President Mr. Akhilesh Prasad Singh and Congress leaders launched the theme song of Congress Party today at Delhi Pradesh Congress office..."
News reports: Taking the information above as a hint, we conducted a keyword search on YouTube and found a longer version of the clip posted on Aaj Tak's official channel.
It was uploaded on 23 January and its title when translated to English said, "Delhi Assembly Election: Congress launches campaign song for Delhi Assembly elections | Aaj Tak."
The video showed Congress leaders dancing while the theme song could be heard playing in the background.
Conclusion: It is evident that the clip is old and unrelated to the declaration of 2025 Delhi Election results.
