A video shared by the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Delhi wing claims that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) head Arvind Kejriwal said in an interview that cleaning the Yamuna river will not win him votes.

This claims comes ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections which are expected to be held in February.

How did we find out the truth?: On performing a relevant keyword search on Google, we found out that this interview was originally shared by YouTuber Prakhar Gupta on his official YouTube channel, 'Prakhar ke Pravachan,' on 27 December 2024.

  • We also noticed that the viral segment has been cropped up from the original video to share with a misleading context.

  • Kejriwal can be heard saying after the viral segment that he would clean the Yamuna even if it doesn't earn him votes.

  • In the original interview, we found this viral segment from 43:34 timestamp.

In the video, Kejriwal responds to Gupta's statement about wining the elections if he clean up the Yamuna river.

Kejriwal responds, "Prakhar, now I have started understanding a little bit of politics. Yamuna (clean-up issue) will not bring the votes. But I will still clean the Yamuna. Because I have not come here to do politics for votes. They were already doing vote politics. They were practicing power from money and money from power. When I establish schools, I don't see if I will gain votes because of this act or not. When I construct hospitals, I don't see if I will get votes because of this or not. I work because I have come to work and I feel happy to work. I enjoy working for the country and the people of the country. I feel good, at peace when our country progresses."
