A video showing a bungee-jumping mishap is going viral on social media. In the clip, the video shows the platform falling, leading to three individuals in an accident.
The video is being shared as one from occurred in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand
News outlet Zee News also published a story about the viral video.
What we found: At first, we ran a relevant keyword search to find about if any bungee accidents occurred in Rishikesh however, we did not find any.
We came across the same video on YouTube by a channel called, 'Quake Skyfall,' which was uploaded on 3 May.
The video noted, "This is AI edited by me and created by me, no harm was done to no one, everyone is safe." (sic.)
This made it clear that the video was not a real incident as claimed.
We noticed a sign on the platform which read, 'The Cliff'.
We ran another Google reverse image search on more frames of the video.
The results led us to a Facebook page which was called, 'The Cliff Nepal.' It had a similar logo as the platform in the viral video.
The description noted that it was an adventure resort in Kushma, Nepal which had a bungee-jumping facility.
We went through the page and did not find any video, like the viral video on The Cliff's page.
Conclusion: The viral video is altered and has falsely been shared as a real incident from Rishikesh.
