How did we find out the truth?: We performed a relevant keyword search on Google which did not bring up any credible news that carried this notice.

  • We also checked websites of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Defence but did not find this notice.

  • We then came across a post shared by Press Information Bureau (PIB) on X (formerly Twitter) on 6 May 2025 which clarified that this notice is fake.

  • "The government has not issued any such advisory," it read.

Conclusion: A fake 'advisory notice' urging citizens to stock up on essentials and keep ₹50,000 in cash due to rising India-Pakistan tensions is going viral as real.
