1. India Story a Win-Win, Modi Tells America Inc
Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off his US visit on 25 June, telling American business leaders that India’s growth presented a “win-win” opportunity for both nations.
Modi referred to his government’s attempts to improve the business climate, including the “landmark” single unified tax regime GST to woo American companies to “contribute” India’s growth.
The meeting was attended by the chief executive officers (CEOs) of 21 top companies. Among them were four of Indian descent – Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Google’s Sundar Pichai, Adobe’s Shantanu Narayen and MasterCard’s Ajay Banga.

2. Two LeT Terrorists Shot Dead in J&K
Two terrorists were killed and three soldiers injured on Sunday in fighting that erupted the previous day with an attack on a CRPF patrol that left a trooper dead, authorities said.
After hours of fighting to liquidate the two militants holed up in the Delhi Public School (DPS) complex here, the security forces said both were dead and all firing had halted. The security personnel which went from room to room in the school found two bodies in one room, an officer said.
"The bodies of the two militants have been spotted inside one room from where firing had started. There has been no firing from the militants during the last one hour," the officer added.

3. Faridabad Lynching: Six Detained, Let off Later
After six people were detained and subsequently let off in connection with the lynching of a 15-year-old Junaid Khan on a Mathura-bound train, Haryana Railway Police on Sunday announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for any “credible information” on the incident.
While the weapon used to commit the crime is yet to be recovered, the police said that they have formed four teams to probe the matter. Their strategy, till now, has been to “speak to regular passengers in the train to try and create a picture of the exact sequence of events that led up to the murder,” said a police source.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening, while the deceased, Junaid, was going home to Ballabgarh by train, along with three others, after Eid shopping at Sadar Bazar in Delhi.

4. Kidambi Srikanth Wins Australia Open Super Series
India shuttler Kidambi Srikanth defeated Olympic champion Chen Long in a dominating fashion to win the Australia Open Super Series men's singles title on Sunday. Srikanth won in straight games 22-20, 21-16 to win his career's fourth Super Series title.
This is world no 11 Srikanth's second straight title victory in a week after he won the Indonesian Open Super Series Premier last Sunday.
Srikanth had reached the final of the Singapore Open in April and Indonesia Open before this tournament and has thus become only the fifth player in the world and the first Indian male shuttler to contest three consecutive Super Series finals.

5. Karnataka Sedition Case: Fireworks Over Cricket Loss or Hockey Win?
Were the firecrackers that were lit in Hosakote village of Karnataka’s Kodagu district on 18 June meant to celebrate Pakistan’s victory over India in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy in London? Or were they meant to celebrate India’s victory over Pakistan in the Hockey World League?
This is the question that police in Suntikoppa region of Kodagu, 270 km from Bengaluru, face after jailing four Muslim youths from Hosakote on charges of outraging religious feelings and sedition on the basis of a complaint by a local BJP leader.
The events of the night of 18 June, which led to the arrest of Riyaz Mustafa, 21, and his friends KL Muneer, 25, Jaheed, 30, and Abdul Samad, 32, have shattered the fragile peace of the village in a district where communal passions run high and Hindutva forces are dominant politically.

6. Kovind Launches His Prez Campaign From Uttar Pradesh
Ram Nath Kovind, the 71-year old Dalit leader from Kanpur and the NDA’s pick for Presidential polls, arrived in Lucknow to formally seek the support of lawmakers in the state.
Kovind’s meeting with the lawmakers from UP is important as the electoral college of the President comprises both MPs and MLAs, and each vote weighs in accordance with proportional representation.
“Kovindji told us that we should also try to convince opposition lawmakers in UP to vote for him),” an MP who attended the meeting told HT.

7. Seven Killed After Cable Car Snaps in Gulmarg
Seven people, including four tourists, were killed when a tall tree was uprooted and hit the ropeway at tourist hotspot Gulmarg on Sunday afternoon. Police said the ropeway was snapped and a capsule, carrying tourists, hit the ground as strong winds swept Gulmarg, 55 km north of Srinagar, in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, hundreds of tourists were stranded for more than two hours as it took time by the cable corporation to make capsules to run again. “It was horrifying experience. We were dangling for more than two hours,” said a tourist from New Delhi.
The police said it pressed into service all-terrain bikes to climb the steep slopes and rescued 150 stranded tourists.

8. Army Denies Link With 'Soldiers' in Video Over Gorkhaland
After a video surfaced showing a group of men claiming to belong to the Indian Army and threatened to “hang” Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the Gorkhaland issue, the Indian Army has denied any association with them.
“It is to inform that the video circulated is not of serving Indian Army soldiers,” the Army Headquarters in New Delhi said in a statement. It also argued that the uniform of the men in the video is different from the usual Army uniform and the type of vehicle they were sitting in is not used by the Indian Army.
The authorities also pointed out that one person in the video refers to the “Gorkha Rifles as Gorkha Regiment” which an “Indian Army Gorkha will not do”.

9. Military Using 13 Satellites to Keep Eye on Foes
With the successful launch of "eye in the sky" Cartosat-2E satellite with surveillance capabilities last Friday, the total number of satellites being used for military purpose has gone up to 13, an ISRO source told Times of India.
These satellites, which can be used for surveillance and mapping border areas, are primarily used for keeping an eye on enemies both on land and sea.
The Cartosat-2 can accurately spot objects within a square of 0.6 metre by 0.6 metres.
"The 13 satellites used by the military for surveillance include Cartosat 1 and 2 series and Risat-1 and Risat-2," the Isro source said.
