A police complaint has been filed against Dalit leader and Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani for allegedly inciting violence against Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a rally in Karnataka on Friday, 6 April.

BJP Chitradurga district President K S Naveen has filed an FIR and a complaint with the Election Commission over Mevani’s remarks, reported The Times of India.

Mevani, while speaking to the press, said that the biggest role that the youth of the state could play in the upcoming elections would be to disrupt Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally on 15 April.

Currently, the best role the youth of Karnataka can play is to go to PM Modi’s first public address in Bengaluru, throw the chairs in the air and disrupt his function. Ask him what happened to the 2 crore employment generation? If he does not have an answer, ask him to leave the venue and take shelter in the Ram temple.

Further, when asked for whom he was campaigning in the state, Mevani said that he was not with any party, but was in the state to urge people to not vote for the BJP.

Meanwhile, BJP leaders have reportedly demanded that Mevani be barred from entering the state till 12 May.

According to CNN News18, party state secretary CT Ravi said that Mevani should be barred for instigating violence among the people.
