After Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal took a dig at Narendra Modi over the PM’s image appearing in Paytm advertisements, Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma responded on Friday by saying that India is the “biggest beneficiary” of demonetisation.

After PM Modi announced his decision to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, mobile wallet service provider Paytm began to vigorously advertise themselves. Kejriwal however found Modi’s presence in the advertisements suspect.

On 9 and 10 November, Paytm put out front-page advertisements in newspapers, congratulating Modi on “taking the boldest decision in the financial history of independent India”.

Kejriwal, in a video, had also accused the government of informing their associates a week ago, so they could invest their money in advance.

BJP and its "friends" were informed about the demonetisation of high value currency "a week before" the move was effected, especially keeping the upcoming Uttar Pradesh polls in mind, Kejriwal alleged.

He questioned the logic behind the introduction of Rs 2,000 notes saying it will fan corruption and the black money economy, instead of containing it.
