‘Feeling Appreciated,’ Says Tejashwi Yadav After Lunch With Rahul
Gandhi has been reaching out to allies ahead of his expected takeover of the party’s top post.
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s younger son, Tejashwi Yadav, took to Twitter on Friday, 17 November to thank Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi for lunch.
According to reports, Gandhi has been reaching out to allies ahead of his expected takeover of the party’s top post.
Only a few months earlier, and this social media post may have had different implications.
A political turmoil had shaken the state of Bihar as the mahagathabandhan between the JDU, RJD and the Congress – which eventually broke with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s exit – came under threat. Kumar had demanded Yadav bow out of the government owing to corruption charges. The Congress was brought in to mitigate the situation, but to no avail.
While Gandhi may hesitate to accept outright support from Tejashwi’s father Lalu owing to corruption charges, he considers Tejashwi a “solid ally”, reported NDTV.
