UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and her daughter and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrived in Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli for a thanks-giving visit on Wednesday, 12 June.
This is their first visit to the constituency after it elected Sonia Gandhi in the Lok Sabha polls.
District Congress spokesperson Lal Aash Kiran Pratap Singh said the two leaders landed the Fursatganj airport after which their cavalcade reached Bhuyemau guest house. Priyanaka Gandhi is likely to hold a review meeting with district leaders of the area at the guest house, he said.
In the evening, there will be a thanks-giving ceremony for which over 2,500 party workers have been invited, he said.
Sonia Gandhi is also expected to review the party's dismal performance in polls and strategise the course for the upcoming 2022 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

All district-level office bearers of the party will be present at the meeting on Wednesday.
Raebareli is the only seat that the Congress won in Uttar Pradesh in the 2019 general elections.
