RSS, Bajrang Dal Are Extremist Organisations: CM Siddaramaiah
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sparked a political controversy after he referred to the BJP, the RSS and the Bajrang Dal as extremist organisations.
While speaking to reporters at a helipad in Chamarajanagar district on 10 January, Siddaramaiah said: “In a way, even they are extremists May it be BJP, RSS or Bajrang Dal, they are like terrorists/extremists.”
Siddaramaiah made the comment in response to a question on the action taken against the Popular Front of India (PFI), after an NIA special court allowed alleged members of the organisation to be tried under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (charges of terrorism).
The government will not spare any terrorist/extremist group that is involved in heinous crimes “be it the PFI or even RSS and Bajrang Dal,” he said.
BJP Lashes Out
BJP spokesperson G Madhusudan demanded that the Siddaramaiah government back up his statement.
Sangh Parivar is a Terrorist Body: Karnataka Cong
Dinesh Gundurao, the working of president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), made similar allegations against the Sangh Parivar. Speaking at a Bengaluru protest – organised by the NSUI over the BJP Yuva Morcha for allegedly abetting the suicide of a girl – Gundurao alleged that the Sangh Parivar has become a terrorist organisation and they are selective about the deaths they protest.
Dhanyashree, a college student from Chikmagalur, had ended her life after a group of men from the BJP Yuva Morcha harassed her for talking to a man from a different community.
“Why don’t they (BJP) talk about the death of Dhanyashree? Wasn’t she a Hindu? There are asking for the ban of PFI and SPDI. Similarly, even BJP, RSS and Bajrang Dal should be banned for their activities... I am making a serious allegation that the Sangh Parivar has become an terrorist organisation,” Gundurao was quoted as saying.
