Rs 570-Crore Cash Seized in Poll-Bound Tamil Nadu

Three containers were carrying the cash supposedly for inter-bank transfer.

• Electoral officials in Tamil Nadu seized Rs 570-crore cash from three containers during routine checks in Tirupur district.
  
  
• Occupants of the vehicles claimed it was for inter-bank money transfer from SBI’s Coimbatore branch to its Visakhapatnam one. They also claimed to be Andhra Pradesh policemen in plain-clothes but could not produce documentation to substantiate their claims.
  
  
• The election department and paramilitary forces seized the cash on the Perumanallur-Kunnathu bypass.
