Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, 21 May, paid tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 28th death anniversary. Modi took to Twitter and wrote, “Tributes to former PM Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary.”
Senior Congress leaders, including party President Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi AND Manmohan Singh, paid tribute at his memorial, Veer Bhumi, in Delhi.
Rahul Gandhi also shared a message on Twitter remembering his father.
Rajiv Gandhi’s daughter and Congress UP (East )General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi also shared an emotional message.
In a post, she wrote, “You will always be my hero.”
Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated at a rally in Sriperumbudur in 1991 after an operative of the outfit LTTE greeted him with a bomb strapped to her chest.
